From the Bird’s Nest op. 9a
Recording not available.
From the Bird’s Nest is a cycle of nine small pieces for piano. As with the Lullaby, these miniatures contain clear references to folk music (already evident from the title) and to the style of Bartók, the composer Górecki then greatly admired. According to musicologist Adrian Thomas, this cycle can be seen as a marginal return to the small-scale pieces typical of 1954 and 1955, that is, of the time before his composition studies. The cycle has not been published to date.
