Why Come Here, Hoary Fog? op. 80
Recording not available.
Why Come Here, Hoary Fog?, a cycle of small-scale pieces for two large violin sections, was first performed on 3 October 2003 in Bielsko-Biała during that city’s Festival of Polish Composers, of which Górecki had been a patron from its beginning. The performance was part of the composer’s 70th birthday celebrations. Interestingly, the cycle was not listed in the festival programme, which suggests that the composer decided to present it publicly at the very last moment. The performers were Bielsko-Biała Festival Orchestra conducted by Górecki.
