Long Live and Sing – Vivat Silesia op. 77
Long Live and Sing is a short “cheering” song in which the words “Vivat Silesia” come to the fore. It was first performed on Poland’s National Independence Day, 11 November 2000, in Warsaw by Camerata Silesia directed by Anna Szostak, the group often considered Silesia’s best vocal ensemble. The piece is a modest musical homage paid by Górecki to the singers from Katowice and to Silesia, which always remained his beloved homeland.
