Jaworzyna March for small orchestral ensemble
Shortly after the end of the Second World War, Panufnik focused mainly – in addition to engaging in intense conducting activity – on reconstructing scores he lost during the war and on composing music for documentaries. In 1946, he also wrote, having been commissioned by the Czytelnik publishing house, a small piece entitled Jaworzyna March. Based on a folk tune, the piece was written with amateur orchestras in mind, hence its simplicity and textural transparency. Today the work is completely forgotten, although its published score can still be found in some libraries.
